D&S Events has its offices within the Paddock at Donington Park and has delivered Skid pan training to both individuals and Companies for many years. Its trainers are selected for their patience and ability to train drivers at all levels, even those that have yet to pass their test!
This 1/2 hour in-car experience will cover the causes of skidding, whether understeer, oversteer or 4 wheel drift and more importantly these commonly used but often little understood terms will be explained in simple English.
With the flexible Skid Car and vast tarmac areas available, our trainers can set the car up to feel like you are driving on wet, snowy or even icy roads and also imitate front and rear wheel skids. Skids can be experienced from as little as 5mph so that those drivers of limited ability or experience can learn at their own pace. Those more experienced drivers can be set more advanced exercises such as 'downhill on ice' and 'aquaplaning'.
Skid pan training, whilst great fun, is a superb life skill for all drivers and our courses here at Donington Park and also available to Corporate drivers as well as individuals. These can be booked online or by calling 01332 810007 for more information.
Check out our online calendar to book a specific date or to book an open ended 6 month voucher. The Skid pan training course will see drivers on-site for about 2 hours, being in-car for 1 1/2 hours with up to 2 other drivers. Drivers must be of a competent standard to drive a manual gearbox car but do not require a full drivers licence.
