An international mobile phone maker and a mobile phone airtime
supplier got together to offer a reward/incentive programme
to 30 sales people from UK mobile phone shops.
D&S Events won the pitch by suggesting an Italian Job style
Treasure Hunt in BMW Minis in Umbria, Italy.

The medieval town of Gubbio
provided the perfect base for this weekend away with the Park
Hotel ai Cappuccini, a converted monastery, chosen as the hotel.

From here a 155 mile route through Umbria and Le Marches took
in towns such as Assisi, Spello, Norcia and Camerino. The route
also followed sections of the world famous race, the Mille
Miglia.
The BMW Minis were shipped out from the UK, with the D&S
Events team arriving in good time to check the route one final
time, wash and polish the cars and fit the event logos.

On the Friday evening the delegates
arrived and attended a gala dinner at the hotel. Photo 028
Saturday morning saw an early breakfast at which they all received
an event brief from Andy Neale of D&S Events.
The rules were issued along with the road books, safety and
Italian driving instructions, Polaroid cameras and spare film. |

The teams were then set off
at 2-minute intervals with the clues being given out at the
start line.
By following the route the teams would find the answers that
once obtained, had to be photographed, with at least one team
member included.
Supplementary questions were given out on route by the marshals
who also provided mobile back up on route.
All of the teams were a given a float for coffees and car parking
and all were provided with packed lunches that allowed them
to select their own picturesque stop, of which there were many.

Late afternoon saw all of the
teams gathering in the walled hilltop town of Camerino, much
bribery was attempted with the buying and selling of answers.
Two clues were set here and coffee was consumed in the town
square under the watchful eye of Pope Sixtus!

The teams that set off at
2-minute intervals arrived back at the Park Hotel over a 2 ½ hour
period! Despite mentions in the morning briefing of the hare
and the tortoise the final two teams to arrive were of course
the eventual winners.
Saturday evening saw the teams head up into the walls of the
stunning Gubbio where dinner was taken in a traditional Italian
restaurant.
Sunday morning saw free time before a late afternoon flight
home.

The verdict on the event from
the client; ‘As events co-ordinator for over 2 years
I have been on many events but I can honestly say that this
was the best ever.’ Well he had consumed a few by then
and was on the winning team!
From our perspective, the planning trips were superb and the
event even better. We would love to go back so we need some
one out there to book a repeat event, come on you’ll
love it and your customers will too!
